One of the most influential elements in the evolution of pinup culture was film. What would the pinup be without the advent of the movies? In the 1920s and 30s the American film industry successfully created and distributed a fantasy that burrowed into the hearts and imaginations of the nation. The impact of this revolutionary medium and the Hollywood fairytale it cultivated cannot be overestimated.
Not only did film offer a never before experienced means of entertainment and media transmission, it also changed the public view of decorum and propriety, specifically with regard to female sexuality.

Winning by a landslide for our Golden Globes After-party poll, Mila Kunis proves that she knows style! A glittering bloussant top with a plunging neckline is quite the statement piece and Mila wisely chose to let it take center stage. She keeps the look chic by pairing the sparkling top with sleek black skinny pants and a pair of sexy, classic black pumps. A simple, loose up-do completes the look and Mila was smart to wear no jewelry, letting no other superfluous accessories compete with her show-stopping blouse.

Golden Globes, Poll
When I stepped onto the elevator for work this morning, I found a cologne-laden companion who would do a much better job of waking me up than my morning dose of caffeine. Woody, musky, leathery and everything evergreen, I felt as though I had stepped into a rain-soaked forest, or—even worse—an episode of Jersey Shore. The elevator came to a stop and my potent friend got off at his floor (taking his olfactory monsoon with him), but he left me thinking about guys wearing fragrance.
While the ladies have rocked fragrance since the beginning of time (or since the ancient Egyptians learned how to bottle myrrh), guys seem to have a different relationship to scent. In

Paris has long been the trend setting epicenter of western society. For centuries it has attracted and nurtured the creative minds of artists and thinkers whose various influences on culture, fashion and art persist to this day. One of the most fabulous of the artistic Parisian movements was born in Montparnasse at the beginning of the 20th century.Between 1910 and the start of WWII, artists from around the globe migrated to the Montparnasse district in Paris to take advantage of the intellectual community emerging there. A gritty bohemian attitude and romantic embrace of lower class status defined Montparnasse as the counterpart of Montmartre, the previous generation’s civilized artistic hub frequented by the likes of Manet and Degas.

Like the rest of the civilized world, 20 days ago we made a vow (we hate the word resolution) to eat better and work out more. Less than one month in, we can say we’ve been diligent about the eating better part of our vow (except for that cupcake at a friend’s baby shower last Sunday and the bag of candy that followed…). And although we have been exercising more, we’ve let life get in the way of making it to the gym on a regular basis. After all, watching the Golden Globes and afterwork drinks are a must don’t you know. However, we wonder if we get bonus points for at least dressing for the part of gym star? If that were the case, we should definitely win the athletic award thanks to our obsession with sportswear-inspired fashions as seen on the Spring 2011 runways of Ohne Titel, Marni and Isabel Marant to name a few. Neoprene, oversized zippers, terry sweats, letterman jackets and leather helmets made their way out of the locker room and onto the runways and so far this January we’ve happily let our inner athlete out to play, if not to work out than at least to cheer from the bleachers!
1) Colour Block: Jonathan Saunders Lunain colour block jersey dress – $150 at The Outnet Ohne Titel wasn’t the only designer doing colour blocking for spring, but their navy, white and blue pieces worn with neoprene bodysuits really screamed sporty. And while we would never hit the gym in Jonathan Saunders’ colour blocked jersey dress, it’s sporty enough to play the part.
2) Gym Junkie: Canvas webbing trim gym bag – $60.34 at ASOS What? Did you actually think you’d fi

We tried bright red lipstick for the first time last week. We’re lipgloss girls all the way so this was unchartered territory for us. We were nervous at first and kept wondering if we had lipstick all over our teeth but by the end of the night we were definitely warming up to the idea of bright lips. So when we saw the vibrant magenta stained lips on Diane Von Furstenberg’s Spring 2011 runway, we were curious to give it a try (along with the uber-colourful orange blouse/purple skirt combo). We discovered that M.A.C. Make Up Artist James Kaliardos lined the DVF models’ lips in M.A.C. Chromagraphic Pencil in Process Magenta and topped them off with M.A.C. Pigment in M
